"After 12 years of constant use, the student and instructor task chairs in the classrooms at Davenport University’s Lettinga campus were showing signs of excessive wear and tear. The frames on the over 1,500 chairs were still in very good condition, but many of the seat cushions no longer held their shapes and the cushion fabrics were worn, frayed, and torn. Obviously replacing the seat cushions and fabrics would be a much cheaper option than purchasing new task chairs. Coordination of this project was proposed to Christian Wiser of Wiser Contract Furnishings and without hesitation, Christian accepted.
One of the University’s challenges to Christian was the project had to be completely turnkey, from picking up the chairs to be re-upholstered to returning the chairs to specific classrooms. To date I am more than pleased with the outcomes as the firm has taken total ownership of the project. The quality of the workmanship of the contractors chosen by Christian to fabricate new cushions and then apply the new fabrics have been second to none. And the staff at Wiser Contract Furnishings have been extremely cooperative and professional in their relationship with the Facilities Department at Davenport University and have been very accommodating to the occasional scheduling hiccups that invariably occur with a project of this magnitude. The newly upholstered task chairs improve the appearance of the classrooms and the Facilities Department has received several favorable comments from staff and students. Just as important, the project will be completed on time and under budget.
Our relationship with Wiser Contract Furnishings is better described as a partnership rather than a buyer-vendor arrangement. I would encourage other organizations to contact Wiser Contract Furnishings not only for new furniture needs, but also to discuss solutions for those furniture challenges that arise."
